The year is 1922 and we’re just 4 years past WWI. Two frustrated London housewives meet at a ladies social club and decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, and they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again—rediscovering themselves in ways that they—and we—could never have expected, which in the end has quite an effect on the men as well!
